Luke Royalty Releases Hazy New Single 'Commuter'

Second Track Taken From Debut EP My Blue Room

Out April 8th On Soul Kitchen Recordings

Supports Jake Bugg On UK Dates This Month

Following the release of his heartfelt single ‘Blue Peter’ at the top of the year, one of the UK’s hottest new artists Luke Royalty, returns with his single ‘Commuter’. The track is the second to be taken from his debut EP My Blue Room, out April 8th on Soul Kitchen Recordings.

A hazy, doo-wop influenced jam, ‘Commuter’ was written with producer Julien Flew at his studio in Hackney Wick. “The track is about the journey home from that night out that went on a little too long and you’re tripping out thinking everyone is judging you,” Luke said of the track. “It’s that feeling of worthlessness you get when you see people commuting to work as you’re on your way back from an evening of pure regret.”

A sum greater than its individual parts, My Blue Room EP is a deep dive into Luke Royalty’s brain. Brimming with hooks, sun-drenched guitars and a raw, honest perspective on modern society, the EP sees Luke continue his path to stardom. Opening with ‘Brighter Mourning’, the 7 track EP also includes dreamy slow jam ‘Counting Clouds’, earnest poetry in the form of ‘32/Slide In’, emotive first single ‘Blue Peter’ and the luscious, vibe filled ‘alright?’.

Hailing from Darlington in the North East of England, Luke came from a creative family of artists and musicians. He, however, avoided dabbling in music until his late teens, preferring to spend his time playing Sunday League football and following his beloved Darlington FC. Upon finding influence in the likes of Loyle Carner, Mac Miller, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu and Bill Withers, Luke got drawn into the culture of turning his words to music and the rest is history in the making.

Poised for greatness and having already garnered support from key players including BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders’ ‘Future Artists Next Wave Pick’), BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Clash Magazine, Far Out Magazine, Notion, The Line Of Best Fit, The Independent and Amazing Radio, Luke Royalty is without doubt one of the artists everyone should be watching in 2022.

Off the back of his sold-out debut show in Manchester and electric performances at Dot 2 Dot and Sound City Festivals, Luke heads out on his first UK tour supporting Jake Bugg this spring, culminating with a show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on the 6th April. Luke will also head out on his first co-headline run with long time collaborator Sweets in April.
