The 2024 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod concluded on a high note with sensational performances by Madness and The Hoosiers, bringing the festival to a rousing end.
Madness, with their timeless ska-infused hits and charismatic stage presence, The Hoosiers, known for their pop-rock anthems, it was a night i had been looking forward to.
Starting the night of were The Hoosiers who delivered an electrifying performance captivating the audience with their infectious energy and catchy tunes. Dressed in vibrant, eclectic outfits that matched their dynamic stage presence, the band played a well-curated setlist featuring hits like “Worried About Ray” and “Goodbye Mr A,” which had the crowd singing along enthusiastically. Their charismatic lead singer effortlessly engaged the audience, creating an intimate yet exhilarating atmosphere under the Big Top tent. With tight musicianship and playful banter, The Hoosiers proved they are not just a nostalgic act but a band with enduring appeal, leaving the audience buzzing long after the final chord.
Madness, Madness, Madness they call it Madness and it was time for the legendary Nutty Boys to bring us their unique take of on Ska. What can you say about Madness that hasn’t been said before? A band that can play for over an hour with every song being a classic hit, that in itself is mighty impressive, and the hits came one after another, “My Girl”, “Shut Up”, “One Step Beyond”, “House Of Fun”, “The Prince”, “Baggy Trousers” and the list goes on and on. These days, rather than being the Nutty Boys, I would personally call them the London Gents, dressed in their spectacularly tailored suits and trilby hats, this band showed why they are still playing sold out venues all over the world. Unbelievably tight and completely relaxed at all times, comfortable banter with the audience, everything from politics to the Spice Girls, this band is a national treasure and I for one hope they play for ever.
To finish i would like to Congratulate the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod for orchestrating a brilliant two weeks of musical concerts that captivated audiences and celebrated the universal language of music. From the breathtaking performances of world-class artists to the enchanting showcases of diverse cultural traditions, this year’s Eisteddfod has truly outdone itself, creating an atmosphere of unity, joy, and artistic excellence. The festival not only highlighted the immense talent of the performers but also fostered a spirit of community and shared experience among all attendees. Kudos to the organizers, volunteers, and artists for their hard work and dedication in making this event an extraordinary success, leaving lasting memories and setting a high bar for future celebrations.
