THE HORRORS
RELEASE ‘LOTUS EATER’
NEW ALBUM NIGHT LIFE OUT MARCH 21ST
The Horrors have released ‘Lotus Eater’, the third track to be taken from their forthcoming sixth studio album ‘Night Life’, out March 21st via Fiction Records. The band are currently in the middle of a run of sold-out UK dates including a stellar show at London’s ICA last month.
“Lotus Eater has had several past lives.” explain the band; “It was one of the first songs from the Night Life sessions that we felt really excited about – Rhys’ original lyric had a feeling that made me think of “5 Years” by David Bowie, and I started to build on the idea. A lotus eater lives in a state of blissful ignorance, and the song to me describes the moment of coming back to reality. We wanted it to have a feeling of both melancholy and euphoria, letting go of the past and starting again. The spoken word section was improvised in the studio, and the mid-section of chopped-up electronics came from Amelia’s world of synth programming. It feels almost like a sister track to Sea Within a Sea in some ways, and it’s one of our favourite songs on the new album.”
As The Horrors approach their 20th anniversary as a band, ‘Night Life’ sees them shapeshift into a new form, with a new sonic outlook and a new line up centred around the core duo of vocalist Faris Badwan and bassist Rhys Webb, now joined by Amelia Kidd on keys and Telegram’s Jordan Cook on drums, making the new album the band’s first to not feature all 5 original members. The resulting album is a record of weight and space, of melancholy and euphoria; a record that has the ability to make bedfellows of seemingly disparate ideas as only The Horrors can. The ‘Night Life’ here is not the vim and vigour of pubs and clubs. It’s the thoughts that happen under the cover of darkness; the places your mind takes you when the rest of the world is asleep. A record born out of a desire to revive the raw, instinctive spirit of the band’s early work.

SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘OPEN WIDE’
SECOND SONG UNVEILED FROM FORTHCOMING THIRD ALBUM OPEN WIDE
SET FOR RELEASE FEBRUARY 7TH 2025
Fresh from the announcement of their biggest ever tour of UK and Ireland, including a 20,000-capacity show in Dublin, Inhaler have shared another preview of their forthcoming new album. Title track ‘Open Wide’ is the second to be unveiled from the band’s eagerly awaited third album and serves as a follow-up to recent single ‘Your House’. The Dublin four-piece’s album ‘Open Wide’ is set for release on February 7th through Polydor Records. The eponymous track from Inhaler’s new album is emblematic of the Irish quartet’s daring new era, a driving indie-rock epic mixing yearning hooks, expansive guitar lines and Balearic-style percussion. A huge singalong set to their most undeniable and infectious groove yet, ‘Open Wide’ is the sound of a band thrillingly coming into their own. Already familiar as a fan-favourite from the band’s current live set during the opening leg of their Open Wide World Tour in North America, the new track is one of 13 songs that will feature on their album of the same name.
Speaking about their new song, frontman Elijah Hewson says, “Open Wide was originally a short electronic house demo that was lying around in our graveyard. We loved the bass line and the four to the floor kick on it. When we took it to the studio in London for the tracking of the album and started playing it in the room it took on almost the opposite form, it’s still got that hypnotic tunnel thing but it’s gone panoramic. We love it.”
The album ‘Open Wide’ was produced by Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles/Florence & The Machine) and marks a giant leap forward for the band. Beginning work on it early this year in London, the band were encouraged to challenge themselves and take more creative control. Listening to a wide range of genres during writing – from techno to Nick Cave – inspired them to experiment with a brighter, timeless sound, adding texture to the record. The result is an album of 13 songs that feels unique – a guitar-driven pop album unlike any other, solidifying their status as one of the most exciting young bands today.

NEW ALBUM DREAMS ON TOAST OUT MARCH 28th 2025 VIA COOKING VINYL
Following its premiere with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, The Darkness have released their explosive new single ‘I Hate Myself’. It’s the second track to be taken from their forthcoming eighth studio album Dreams On Toast which is out on March 28th via Cooking Vinyl. The punk rock glam stomp of ‘I Hate Myself’ features Justin Hawkins in self-deprecating mode, as he chronicles the breakdown of a relationship while pointing the finger squarely at himself. Falsetto soars, riffs swagger, choruses trumpet and solos ignite as though you’ve walked into an end-of-year party where Status Quo, Slade, Cheap Trick and Motorhead have all come on the jukebox… at the same time! It’s quite simply magnificent.
Regarding the single Justin Hawkins says, “At last, a joyous, raucous celebration of self-loathing. I think without regrets we stand to learn less from our experiences – to deny them and compartmentalise them is to deny ourselves an opportunity to grow. So, it’s time for us to sing this uplifting ode to remorse in the hope that we don’t make the same mistakes again and history does not repeat itself.”
Fans will be treated to an exclusive live performance of ‘I Hate Myself’ during the first two of six sold out Rough Trade in-stores happening this week in London, Nottingham and Liverpool. The Darkness will perform songs from the forthcoming Dreams On Toast live for the very first time including the recent poptacular single ‘The Longest Kiss’. Following their short run of up-close-and-personal Rough Trade shows, The Darkness will hit the road again in March on a much larger scale. The Dreams On Toast UK headline tour will see them play 18 shows across the country finishing at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on March 29th.
