October Drift have released the video for their new single ‘Lost Without You’, taken from their recently released second album I Don’t Belong Anywhere out now via Physical Education Recordings.
The high energy video captures a commanding performance of the propulsive fuzzy rock track from the Taunton collective. It premiered with Clash who said, “Precocious and stirring, ‘Lost Without You’ presents a band working as one, with October Drift showing immense sense of purpose.”
The video reflects their impassioned and explosive live shows which they are currently touring around the UK on a headline run in support of the new album. Full dates can be found below and tickets are available here.
Regarding ‘Lost Without You’ frontman Kiran Roy says, “It’s a song about heartbreak and helplessness. Inspired by a long-distance relationship, with my girlfriend living over 400 miles away in Scotland. It’s about missing loved ones and the struggle of being apart.”
I Don’t Belong Anywhere is a taut, visceral record, and a step forward for the band into an even more powerful sound following their highly acclaimed debut album Forever Whatever in 2020. Far less introspective than their debut, I Don’t Belong Anywhere is October Drift’s totem for bringing us all together again.
The new album is about connection and a record that is truly from the heart, rich with added layers of meaning it finds the band poised to explode with their most thoughtful and exciting record yet.
I Don’t Belong Anywhere is packed with further hits such as the hard-hitting ‘Webcam Funerals’ and the deliciously raw ‘Waltzer’. Both tracks have received great support from BBC 6Music and Radio X, while the latter also entered the Top 20 of the ‘Most Added’ NACC Radio Chart in the US. The Independent and Louder both featured the song within their Best New Tracks and prompted the latter to say, “The rising British alt/indie rockers are on stirring, shoegaze-y form… Abject despair seldom sounded so ripe for festival singalongs.”
I Don’t Belong Anywhere is a record that reflects unity, inspired by the miles the band have travelled together and those they have spent apart. However, what this new record cements at the foremost is a vital band proving they are here to stay.
