ODESZA’s ‘The Last Goodbye’ Arrives Today
Nationwide Amphitheater Tour Kicks Off With
Sold-Out Trio Of Seattle Shows July 29-31
Today, GRAMMY-nominated duo ODESZA returns in full force with the release of their first album in 5+ years: ‘The Last Goodbye’. Released via Foreign Family Collective/Ninja Tune, it’s a record which bridges together the power of nostalgia and the duo’s roots, with cutting edge production and cinematic soundscapes.
With singles like the title track featuring the legendary Bettye LaVette and the recent Ólafur Arnalds-collab, “Light Of Day,” receiving acclaim from the likes of NY Times and Billboard, among others, ‘The Last Goodbye’ is a stirring collection rife with brightness and emotion, wistful yet rooted in the present. With additional guest appearances by Julianna Barwick, Izzy Bizu, Charlie Houston, The Knocks, Låpsley & MARO, the record is sweeping in nature, delicately and deftly crafted by the duo, as they create a score that mirrors the cyclic nature of life and interconnection.
Following the monumental success around their GRAMMY-nominated last album ‘A Moment Apart’, today’s new LP is an experience that speaks to themes of connection, reminiscence, and the impact we impart on one another. It’s a vivid celebration of the people and moments that have left their mark on our existences, reverberating throughout the record in the form of interwoven samples from personal home movies and childhood memories, showcasing the origins of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight juxtaposed against the bold, boundary-pushing production techniques they have become synonymous with.
On the album, the band notes: “5 years later and we are here: ‘The Last Goodbye’. It’s an album that is centered around the power of connection. While writing it, we began to realize just how impacted and inspired we are by the people around us. How we impart pieces of ourselves onto others and carry that influence with us onward – that we echo out through one another. It’s been an awareness that we hadn’t fully grasped, and in coming to appreciate it, we wanted this project to honor our loved ones and our sense of community. ‘The Last Goodbye’ is about stepping back in, returning to each other in celebration. It’s meant to be a shared record: one we hope that listeners can experience together, with friends, dancing and rejoicing in that sense of interconnection after so much time apart.”
With over 5 billion total streams, ODESZA have masterfully reemerged to remind the world what has made the duo of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight cornerstones of the modern electronic landscape. Their last album ‘A Moment Apart’ was not only a commercial success (going gold and debuting at no. 3 on the Billboard 200), but it also earned critical acclaim including two GRAMMY nominations and praise from the likes of NPR, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, Consequence and more.
The duo’s forthcoming nearly sold-out amphitheater tour in support of the record is set to kick-off July 29 with a trio of back-to-back sold-out shows in their hometown of Seattle. A true testament to the connection they’ve developed with their community, ODESZA sold over 350k tickets during the initial 48-hour ticket on-sale period for the tour, reaffirming the Seattle duo as one of modern music’s live performance juggernauts and making them one of the first electronic acts to attempt a tour of this magnitude. In addition to the three Seattle shows, the tour will also include two sold-out nights at LA’s The Forum, and two sold-out nights at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, among many others. Tour dates HERE.
The duo has cultivated a diehard fan base of massive proportions: known for their groundbreaking, awe-inspiring and immersive live performance, which reached 2.85m+ fans over the course of their ‘A Moment Apart’ tour. They also have had headline performances at the likes of Coachella, Lollapalooza & more, as well as performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Conan, and launched their own music festival SUNDARA in Riviera Maya, Mexico in 2019.
