Oscar Lang shares new single ‘One Foot First’
Out now on Dirty Hit
New album ‘Look Now’ released 21st July
August tour dates announced
Oscar Lang has today shared his new single ‘One Foot First’. It follows ‘A Song About Me’ and is the second to be taken from his upcoming second album, the brilliant ‘Look Now’, set for release on 21st July via Dirty Hit.
‘One Foot First’ is melancholic and empathetic as Oscar explores darker themes drawing on his own experiences of loss. It is sublimely crafted with lush production from Rich Turvey (The Coral, Blossoms), and was written and recorded in Liverpool.
Oscar talks about One Foot First
“This spawned when I was in a really dark place. It was at the Airbnb in Liverpool. I was in a really dark headspace, it was pissing it down with rain in Liverpool, freezing cold, we’d finished the studio early and I had a lot of time by myself. My thoughts were really dark. There was a balcony in this Airbnb and I would stand out there having a cigarette and watched as I dropped a cigarette and imagine it was me. I came into the studio the next day and decided I wanted to write a song about all the things I’ve been thinking but personify them in other people. And especially as I’ve been hurt a lot as a victim of somebody that had been affected by suicide, that’s why the chorus is about if I could go, I’d disappear and not hurt anyone. Because in my mind, I had all these dark thoughts but also I knew how much it hurt people and I knew the effect that it had on people because I’ve been affected by myself.”
The first single from the album ‘A Song About Me’ was released last month and supported by The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Clash and The New Cue, whilst Jack Saunders has been playing the track on his BBC Radio 1 show.
