PLATINUM SINGER-SONGWRITER JAKE SCOTT SHARES
NEW SINGLE BURN FEAT. JOHN K
Platinum pop singer-songwriter Jake Scott today unveiled an emotionally charged new standalone single Burn featuring John K. It notably marks the first collaboration between Jake and John, uniting two of 21st century pop’s most endearing and engaging voices. Available today on all streaming platforms, Burn examines a couple’s mutual decision to start a relationship over—together. Carrying the harmony together, the chorus catches fire with a plea, “The only way we can survive, baby we gotta burn this down, if we’re gonna make it out.”
About the single, Jake commented, “The first day John K and I met, we realised we live incredibly similar lives. We hit it off talking about our families and the importance of vulnerability in relationships. It’s hard but crucial. “Burn” is all about that.”
John added, “’Burn’ is a letter we wrote to our wives. We wanted the song to talk about what it takes to build a long lasting and healthy relationship. ‘I don’t want mercy, I’d rather you hurt me and tell me the truth. I know we can make it through.’ It’s about not being afraid to have the tough conversations. It’s about honesty and having a deep-rooted commitment to making it through anything.”
This one-off collaboration lands in the wake of the fan favourite Married Young which will appear on Scott’s anticipated, forthcoming debut album Lavender, which is due out later this year on Elektra Entertainment. The LA by-way-of Fayetteville native is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the effort with more details on the album to be revealed soon.
This past April, Scott attended the CMT Awards on behalf of his nomination for “Collaborative Video of The Year” as the feature on Russell Dickerson’s massive hit, She Likes It. Along with being a featured artist on She Likes It, Scott co-produced, mixed, and co-wrote the track with Dickerson. The song is now RIAA Certified Platinum and has amassed 300M+ worldwide streams and counting.
Last year, Scott made his solo, in-studio live television debut, performing his optimistic anthem – aptly titled Good Day – on The Today Show. This marked Scott’s third television appearance that year alone, following performances on Good Morning America (performed She Likes It w/ Russell Dickerson) and The Kelly Clarkson Show (performed Texas Girl). Along the way, Scott has amassed a devoted, highly-engaged fanbase nationwide that pack sold out shows – including his completely sold out inaugural headline run last year.
In celebration of his successful year of touring, Scott also released a new LP dedicated to his fans – Live 2022 – last month. Captured during the Lavender fall headline tour last year, the recordings allow fans to relive the experience. Stream / download Live 2022 HERE and watch the Tuesdays (Live 2022) video HERE – taped during his biggest sold-out show to date in Salt Lake City (3,200 people).
