ANNOUNCE A LONDON HEADLINE SHOW
AT THE LOWER THIRD ON JUNE 13TH
WATCH THE NEW VIDEO FOR “SUBURBIA
CALLING” HERE
Having surged back with the spiky indie-pop thrills and hometown reflections of the new single ‘SUBURBIA CALLING’, RAT BOY now announce details of a London headline show at The Lower Third on June 13th. Tickets for the show go on sale HERE from Friday 3rd May at 10am.
RAT BOY frontman Jordan Cardy says, “So excited to be playing our first London show in what feels like forever!”
Forever is only a mild exaggeration. RAT BOY last hit the capital for a three night stand of headline shows way back in 2018 as they played the Electric Ballroom, the Electric Brixton and Bush Hall on successive evenings. Since then, they’ve hit Coachella, provided some snarling Brit attitude during a North American tour with The Interrupters, and played as special guests to YUNGBLUD.
Today also sees RAT BOY share the new video for “SUBURBIA CALLING”, which sees the band – completed by guitarist Harry Todd, bassist Liam Haygarth and drummer Noah Booth – imagine the nightmarish vision of what might’ve happen had they ditched their sonic anarchy for jobs at Foxtons with the help of their long-term director and visual collaborator Thomas Davis. Filmed in a sought after location with prime access for schools, local shopping facilities and transport links, viewing is highly recommended.
Jordan adds, “We shot the video with the great Tommy Davis directing again. Filmed on the mean streets of Essex, in my Opel Manta and a garage we broke into while the owners were at work.”
“SUBURBIA CALLING” opens a new era in the RAT BOY tale, which has always darted into thrillingly unexpected directions. An alchemist mix of hip-hop, indie, punk and lyrics full of working class misadventures introduced them with ‘THE MIXTAPE’ and the UK Top 15 debut album ‘SCUM’ before the band headed Stateside. That resulted in collaborations and/or admiration from Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion) and Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) as well as the album-length mixtape ‘INTERNATIONALLY UNKNOWN’ and the subsequent ‘GOVERNMENT VACATION’ EP.
