REVIEW BY LLOYD WAKELING
THE MYSTERINES ‘REELING’ OUT NOW!!!
2022 marks the release of Merseyside alt rockers The Mysterines’ debut album ‘Reeling’, released March 11th 2022 via Fiction Records.
Rock as a genre covers all of the bases that excite and boy can that excitement hit levels without limits. Liverpools newest album debutants ‘The Mysterines’ stand and throw musical mud at the wall that is that very genre and without hesitation, all of it actually sticks!
Fast, furious and generously proportioned, the tracks on ‘Reeling’ come at you like a rock album should, without any regrets or apologies. Unbridled and with no reins, this album assaults you as well as loves you and carries you on a wave, that even the most able bodied musical surfer will find exhilarating and fueled with an adrenalin punch.
Recorded live, it balances that recipe of noise, power and musical delivery brilliantly and brings a level of expectation that keeps getting stronger as each track reveals itself, harbouring passion in ways that tear into the notion of subtlety and, well, sleep!
Filled with the angst that is inherently built into the young and the artistic, this album steps up to the mic fearing nothing and no one, it is moody and surprisingly honest but most of all it is a rock album that delivers rock in abundance, slapping you constantly around the face but sometimes we all need that in our lives and I for one feel exhilarated and duly slapped!
