Nestling neatly between the bedsheets of Arcade Fire and Talking Heads is a lovely subculture of American Indie music that unfortunately, because it is art driven and not financially sexy, seldom seems to get its head off the pillow to wander the streets of radio land. This is true everywhere and it is such a shame that good, bloody good music gets shoved in the corner to be ignored, although the band have had some airplay here in the UK on BBC 6 Music.

Wings of Desire, a US based two piece have given us four tracks that play to the pulse of everything that is good about American music, lyric driven, bouncy and far too perfect for mainstream ears. Emotional and personal, these tracks write their own synopsis of life, with all of the good and the bad. There is that conundrum where you wish great success for a band, but secretly are glad that you and a handful of discerning audience members are the lucky ones to hear them and appreciate them.

Hopefully, Wings of desire will adorn our shores very soon and give us a taste of American song writing at its best because, without a doubt their stories are worth listening to.
