REVIEW BY LLOYD WAKELING
James Campfire EP Out Now!! Order here:
I love James and I love this reimagined EP that is both beautiful and stripped back, leaving the listener a bounty of sound that is and isn’t there. I know that sounds weird, but we know these songs, we love these songs, but the need to slow things down and concentrate on their true worth gives them so much more as songs, because they literally need nothing else, nothing.
These are campfire versions and what a thing it would be to sit with the band, strumming, vocalising and very definitely toasting marshmallows and drinking ale around a fire that crackles above beautiful music adding its own voice.
I can’t be more in love with these versions. They hide nothing and Tim Booths soaring voice is underpinned by the glorious guitars and strings working their way down each nerve of the spine, until parity is again restored and life is perfect.
Spare just the few minutes it will take to listen to this EP and thank whoever gave this band its soul because it sounds to me like it is bared in this collection and some.
10/10
