REVIEW BY TAMSIN JONES
OUT NOW VIA HOLM FRONT RECORDS
Experimental Punk sensations ‘Krush Puppies’ release their debut EP ‘Love Kills The Demons’ with a band name like ‘Krush Puppies’ meeting each other in a que at Pets at Home in London is not what you’d expect!
Band members Alexa Daily, Jenny Wells and Mcgill spoke of their shared taste and passion for experimental punk. A little while after talented drummer Heather Britton joined the band.
And here I am, sat on top of a Welsh mountain listening to opening track ‘Throw Me On The Fire’ with lines such as ‘Could Be This Day That Your Life Could Change’ immediately transported me in a positive playground carried along by the riffs and slow cymbal bashing by Heather. It Immediately had me messaging my editor to thank him for the opportunity to review this EP!
The song is about being scapegoated but instead of falling you absorb it. It’s about the people who take and take, or the blame being put on someone and the other person not taking their own responsibility for their actions that inevitability caused the damage in the first place.
Title track “Love Kills The Demons” is haunting in its delivery the subject is about night terrors paired with a baptism video.
‘Why’ moves on into being forgiving and letting go so you can move on. The pace of the song enables you to totally breath this in. ‘Everybody Is A Cowboy’ starts of with the a typical western sound almost a slide whistle, then hits you with the dusky haunting vocals and beats.
The band successful deliver the right amount of gutsy energy with a harmonic vocal. This band don’t shy away from displaying who they really are and letting rip.
‘It’s about letting go of the bad to make room for the good. It mirrors their heavier live atmosphere, but the recording allowed them to add layers of ethereal vocal harmony and fuzz at the same time, which is often hard to control on stage’
Being on stage is something that I cannot wait to witness! This band are ones to watch.
