“HOW TO STEAL THE WORLD”. 12th November 2021
Red Rum Club are releasing their 3rd album “How To Steal The World”. And let’s hope this record is the catapult to introducing the band to even bigger and better things for this very hard working Liverpudlian lads, its what they deserve
Red Rum Club is vocalist Fran Doran, Tom Williams on lead guitar, Michael McDermott on rhythm guitar, Simon Hepworth on bass, Neil Lawson on drums and Joe Corby, on trumpet.
Right, let’s get down to business and press play.
The album starts with the sound of seagulls over the Mersey well that’s what it conjures up in my mind, and then the opening bars of ‘Drown’ fade in and right from the start you get the feeling this is going to be very good.
And as the record moves from track to track they are all packed full of melody and catchy as hell, there are flavours of Motown, especially when the trumpets kick in, there is a touch of cabaret and disco all wrapped in a Liverpool indie twist.
Songs about love and relationships and all the things in between, with soaring chorus’s just begging you to sing along. Fran Doran’s vocals sound so easy and natural, he has a voice that seems to sit next to you and sing in your ear, so smooth
All in all, this is a very cool laid-back record, it feels like summer, it glides from track to track effortlessly, it makes you feel good, it makes you want to put down your pina colada, grab your girl and hit the dance floor, it truly is a joyful listen full of hip-swaying late-night grooves.
