Rising Irish indie-folk trio Kingfishr have today announced a massive UK and Ireland headline tour for this autumn. Fans can sign up here for access to artist presale tickets, available from 10am on Wednesday 24th April, with general sale tickets going on sale on Friday 26th April 2024 here.
The tour will see Kingfishr play seventeen venues, making it their biggest run of headline shows to date. Starting in Ireland, the UK tour consists of shows at The Fleece, Bristol on Monday 11th October, Academy 2 Manchester on Tuesday 12th November, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London on Wednesday 13th November, The Arts Club Theatre, Liverpool, on Friday 15th November, Foundry, Sheffield on Saturday 16th November, Boiler Shop, Newcastle on Sunday 17th November, SWG3 Galvanizers, Glasgow on Tuesday 19th November, Stylus, Leeds on Wednesday 20th November and O2 Academy2, Birmingham on Thursday 21st November. News of the tour comes off the back of their beautifully melodic new single ‘Afterglow’, which came out on Friday. The latest track is a stunningly wrought composition over which Eddie sings in an affecting falsetto “I love the ethereal nature of falsetto vocals,” he explains. “I grew up with Bon Iver, he definitely did play a huge role in developing my ear.” Listen here.
Kingfishr played eight sold out headline shows across the UK and Ireland earlier this year, The run of dates concluded with two shows at The Olympia Theatre in Ireland, a live recording of which will be available on the 7th June. Kingfishr have also been announced as the support act for Tom Walker’s upcoming 14 date tour as well as for Snow Patrol’s show at Thomond Park Stadium, in July.
Summer 2024 will also see the band perform at festivals across Europe including Glastonbury, TRNMST, Isle Of Wight, Reading and Leeds, All Together Now, Sea Sessions, Down The Rabbit Hole and Rock Werchter.
Formed while members Eddie (vocals, guitar), McGoo (banjo), and Fitz (bass) were studying engineering at university in Limerick, the Irish trio lean into their heritage with traditional instruments and poetic songwriting
Kingfishr’s music is hugely cinematic, they pride themselves on deep textures and a grand sonic atmospheric nature, with influences ranging from Hans Zimmer to Ben Howard. They have racked up over 20 million streams on Spotify to date, with three of their previous releases being performed on The Independent’s live music session Music Box. Watch here.
Kingfishr have previously supported world-famous rock legend Bruce Springsteen at BST, as well as George Ezra and Dermot Kennedy. Festival appearances to date include Electric Picnic (main stage), Neighbourhood Weekender, Live At Leeds, Latitude, All Points East, Sea Sessions and Indiependence. They have also made appearances on BBC Introducing Belfast and performed on Irish TV Series Other Voices.
