TEAMS UP WITH SAFETY TRANCE FOR ‘ARENA!’

Sega Bodega today teams up with Safety Trance (AKA DJ Cardopusher) to release the brand new single “Arena!”, his first new music of 2023, after a wildly successful string of acclaimed production work for other artists, including Shygirl’s Mercury nominated album ‘Nymph’, Caroline Polachek, Eartheater and more
‘Arena!’ is an industrial, brooding amalgam of EBM, techno and hardstyle – spotlighting the versatility of the two artists. Always keen to collaborate, ‘Arena!’ is a fruitful first time alliance with Safety Trance.
Speaking on the collaboration, Sega Bodega says “I came round to hang at Luis flat in Barcelona one afternoon and we jammed, this one idea that we started became ‘Arena!’ I love his drums so much and his sense of rhythm so to be able to work with him was such a gift!”
Safety Trance adds “”In summer 2022 Salv happened to be in Barcelona for a few days so I invited him to my home studio to hang out. We showed each other some ongoing projects we were working on at that time and after having a great and inspiring listening session we started the first bits of ‘Arena!’ Salv came up with these beautiful synth hooks and I started to work on the rhythm part. We knew immediately we had something special that kept evolving over the next months.”
Born in Ireland, raised in Glasgow and now based in Paris, producer, performer and label head Sega Bodega – AKA Salvador Navarrete – has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and precocious creative minds. His impact spans music, fashion and film, soundtracking some of the most important cultural moments in recent years, as well as building a catalogue of solo releases that traverse genre, style and composition.
Born in Venezuela and based in Barcelona, dj/artist/producer aka Luis Garban has spent the last decade creating a wide variety of noisy dancefloor assaults. Along the way, he has built a varied and extensive discography that is constantly growing, releasing music and remixes via well respected labels like Dark Entries, Boysnoize, Technicolor and Veyl to name a few. In 2022 he released “El Alma Que Te Trajo” under the new alias Safety Trance. The song was made with longtime friend and collaborator Arca and was included in his 4 track EP titled “Noches de Terror” that expertly collides menacing industrial and leftfield reggaeton to reveal a soundtrack for uncertain times.
In late 2022, Sega released new single ‘Kepko’ closely followed by a remix of Björk’s ‘Ovule’ in early 2023. Sega Bodega’s last full release – 2021’s Romeo – showcases an otherworldly production style that has marked him as a pioneer within the alternative and electronic worlds. A true multi-hyphenate, alongside his two solo albums, Bodega has been a crucial hand in countless projects over the past decade, from the development of artists under his NUXXE label, to production for the likes of Caroline Polachek, Oklou, Shygirl, Eartheater, Kiss Facility, and more. A keen soundtracker, Bodega scored Nike’s 2018 Jumpman ad and contributed to Rihanna’s Puma x Fenty show at NYFW. He’s worked with Bottega Veneta on numerous projects, most recently soundtracking the fashion house’s short film ‘Reunion In Motion.’
