THE SLOW READERS CLUB
ANNOUNCE WINTER 2024 TOUR DATES
Critically acclaimed Manchester band The Slow Readers Club have today announced a run of shows throughout November and December 2024.
Completed by Aaron Starkie (vocals) Kurtis Starkie (guitar) James Ryan (bass) and David Whitworth (drums), The Slow Readers Club first established a loyal following with two self-released albums: 2011’s eponymous debut and 2015’s ‘Cavalcade’. Aaron’s lyrics upscaled from the personal to the political and dystopian with ‘Build A Tower’ (2018), ‘The Joy Of The Return’ and ‘91 Days In Isolation’ (both 2020). Their sound has constantly evolved, their core being anthemic electro-rock boasting the noir lustre of Interpol, Alt-J, The Maccabees and Depeche Mode.
The band released their new album ‘Knowledge Freedom Power’ last year following a major UK and European headline tour. The record is the follow-up to 2020’s Top 10 album ‘The Joy of the Return’.
The Slow Readers Club have honed their craft through several headline tours and they have supported acts including James, Pixies, Morrissey, The Charlatans, Shed 7, Catfish & The Bottlemen, and Jesus and Mary Chain. This summer will also see them support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Wigan’s Robin Park on 18th July.
Having built a large, loyal following they have worked their way up from small venues to sold out shows and main stage festival slots. The band have grown largely through fan word of mouth, grass roots music blogs and champions in radio including Christine Hawkins, Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy. Their fan base continues to grow day by day which is testament not only to the quality of songs, but the intense live shows The Slow Readers Club put on.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale Friday 12th April at 10:00am and will be available from www.gigsandtours.com / www.ticketmaster.co.uk
