With Home’s avant-garde, contemporary blend of sounds and styles turning the stylistic dial towards uncompromising bombast, comparisons with Cate Le Bon and Björk may now emerge for Solis, while the troubled-balladry of Jeff Buckley, the poetry of Kate Bush and Laura Marling’s softly-sung prowess remain very much in the head-rushing blend of audible influences.
The Priestess EP, also including the tracks Spirits, Sunday and Empty Space, asks questions of essential purpose as a person’s life reaches the delicately poised period of adulthood, responsibility, planning, ambition and the still glowing embers of youth, abandon and freedom. The EP’s title was drawn from a tarot card, with the word appearing to sum up the urgent need to communicate and find release through the five, powerful songs contained within.
Manchester’s Someone Great Records releases Solis’ Priestess EP having supported her earliest ventures including her debut EP Open, released in summer 2022. That release found immediate support from influential media including Gemma Bradley and her BBC Radio 1 Introducing show. Finding no more to fear on stage than in the studio, Solis has unleashed her powers in front of festival crowds, including those of Kendal Calling, Liverpool’s Sound City and Dot to Dot as well as supporting artists including Blossoms, Abbie Ozard, Francis Lung and Liz Lawrence.
