Scottish indie rock band The View brought their UK Tour to The Old Fire Station in Carlisle, with a sell-out show on the 22nd of November 2023. Supported by Dictator, the show promised high energy with new songs mixed in with some old classics, it didn’t disappoint

Dictator kicked off the night, the 4-piece indie rock band from West Lothian didn’t come to mess about as they emphatically played through a barrage of inventive indie rock grooves. Smashing out songs such as “Rubix Cube”, “Enough is Enough” and “Conquistador”, they delighted the Carlisle crowd and set the bar high. Dictator are childhood friends of The View and were a fitting band to light up the night and prepare the stage for the main act to follow.

The View rocketed onto the music scene in the mid-naughties with their smash hit “Same Jeans” in 2007 and immediately earned comparisons to The Libertines and The Courteeners. Their ramshackle charm quickly winning hearts as their debut album “Hats off To The Buskers” went straight to number one. The View incorporates many styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, and folk in their music.

The View burst onto the stage to rapturous applause and belted out the first track “Glass Smash” sending the crowd into a frenzy. The Old Fire Station was in top voice and sang along to every word of “Grace” and “Wasted Little DJ’s”. Lead singer “Kyle Falconer” clearly loving every minute of the crowd participation as he shouted “let’s hear yah sing Carlisle” before raising the tempo with the folk-inspired song “Dixie” which sent the crowd wild.

“Face For The Radio” calmed the atmosphere as the crowd swayed and sang along to every word, however “Sunday” lifted the tempo once again with the Carlisle crowd singing, dancing and loving every minute. It almost felt like every song was leading up to “Same Jeans” and when it arrived it sent the crowd wild, everyone linking arms and dancing around the venue. The atmosphere was electric and energy levels went through the roof.

The View are on tour across the UK in November and December. They put on a high-energy and engaging show which the crowd clearly loved. There was singing, dancing, and sparks flying at The Old Fire Station, signs indeed that everyone had a night to remember.
