SPECTOR
CONJUR A LOVE SONG FIT FOR THE GOOSEBUMPS UNIVERSE
‘DRIVING HOME FOR HALLOWEEN’
IN-STORE TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR NEW ALBUM ‘HERE COME THE EARLY NIGHTS’ – OUT 24TH NOVEMBER
Leaning into the season, Spector serve up a treat of a new single, ‘Driving Home for Halloween’, today – listen here.
Another cut taken from their recently announced new album ‘Here Come the Early Nights’, ‘Driving Home for Halloween’ promises to captivate fans with its unique blend of ethereal sounds and introspective lyrics. The single guarantees a spine-tingling blend of life, death, and love, served with a side of nostalgia and an eerie twist for the digital age.
Elaborating on the track, vocalist Fred Macpherson explains, “Driving Home for Halloween isn’t just a terrible Chris Rea pun. It’s a song about life, death and love in the time of Find My Friends. If Goosebumps books were romance novels this might be what they sound like. It’s for everyone whose life feels static even with the world turning on its axis at a thousand miles an hour.”
Guitarist Jed Cullen adds, “On the last day of recording, Jen had just finished her backing vocals and was about to leave. We had precious little time left to finish the album, but I had this really strong feeling we needed to open up the ‘Driving Home for Halloween’ session and ask her to scream along the guitar riff through Dimitri’s Plasma Pedal. I was a little worried it wouldn’t come off but naturally she nailed it and it sounded amazing on the first try!”
With this upcoming new album release, due on 24th November 2023, Spector have announced a series of intimate in-store performances scheduled to take place ahead of the full UK tour at eight legendary record stores from the 24th to the 30th of November.
‘Here Come the Early Nights’ is Spector at their most complete, a classic British-indie album in waiting soundtracking the inevitable maturity from 20-something dreamer to 30-something… dreamer, all delivered with the band’s undeniable wit and charm.
Touching upon a broad array of life topics with razor-sharp one-liners from frontman Fred Macpherson, ‘Here Come The Early Nights’ is the album Spector have been destined to make across a storied career which has seen them emerge not only as cult indie icons but your favourite band’s favourite band. The album was produced by previous Spector collaborator Dimitri Tikovoi and mixed by Catherine Marks, and features recent singles ‘Another Life’, ‘The Notion’ and new cut ‘Driving Home for Halloween’.
