As the release approaches of Still Corners’ new album, Dream Talk on 5th April, Still Corners delight with the lofty new single ‘Today Is The Day’.

The season is once again changing and with it comes a poignant new single from Still Corners.  ‘Today Is The Day’ radiates the warmth of the first days of spring, a song about change being the only constant in life and seizing the moment while you can.  Written in Woodstock, NY and featuring acoustic guitar, bass guitar and a beautiful orchestral ending, ‘Today Is The Day’ glides across a wide open sky and invites the listener to live for today.

Tessa Murray says “You have all sorts of connections with songs you write but some seem to connect on a deeper level for whatever reason and this song does that for us.  I think there were two sides to this song, one is that we wanted to say something about seizing the moment as life is precious and tomorrow is not promised and that is echoed in the chorus, Today is the Day etc.  On the other side there’s this connection to nature and that’s peppered throughout the lyrics as well.  Yeats once said, “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper”.  I really believe that and when we were out filming this video by all the trees and birds and just hearing that acoustic guitar out there, it felt ancient and old and it was something I had to be reminded of.  Sitting there by the brook I thought maybe I’ll be lucky and catch a glimpse of something deeper.”

Still Corners is the musical project of Tessa Murray and Greg Hughes, and formed shortly after Murray met Hughes by chance at a London train stop in 2009. Over the next (nearly) fifteen years, the band has delivered a steady stream of music that is at once reflective, searching and romantic. Showcasing a unique shimmering desert-noir sound Still Corners have earned global commercial success with such releases as Strange Pleasures (2013) and 2021’s The Last Exit. In support of their upcoming album,  Still Corners have announced the Dream Talk Tour which will see them visit the US and Europe. Tour dates begin in the US on 17th April and end in Greece on 31st May (dates and tickets below).

The new single ‘Today Is The Day’ is out now, with the bands 6th studio album Dream Talk set for release Friday 5th April 2024 via Wrecking Light Records.
