The Courettes are back in the UK this August and September! New single ‘Tough Like That’ out today.
‘Tough Like That’ is the most rocking track off The Courettes’ latest album Back in Mono B-sides and Outtakes. Lyrically, it is a feminist anthem celebrating women who know what they want and know how to get it. These tough women also know who they don’t want, and how to get rid of them. Musically, it has a fuzz-fuelled haunting riff, hypnotic drums and an explosive vocal that recalls the roughness and attitude of early Tina Turner. This infusion of soulful rhythm n’ blues in The Courettes’ spit ‘n’ snarl garage is a hint of the direction the band may be heading on their forthcoming album, which is currently being recorded and is due to be released in 2024 on Damaged Goods Records.
Alongside ‘Tough Like That’, The Courettes will be premiering live some of their brand-new unreleased songs on their upcoming UK Tour which starts next week.
After another busy year performing all around Europe, USA and in Japan, The Courettes, the explosive garage rock duo from Denmark and Brazil, are back in the UK for a roll of 12 shows in 12 days. These include festival appearances at End of The Road Festival and Trip Out Festival and shows at the legendary 100 Club in London and The Cavern in Liverpool, and for the first time the band will be playing live renditions of some brand-new songs that will feature on their forthcoming – and fifth! – album, to be released by Damaged Goods Records in 2024.
