WORDS AND IMAGES DESH KAPUR
Sunday Night and it was short drive through the Kingsway Tunnel into Liverpool and a couple of minutes later i was walking into the Arts Club, grabbing a beer and setting up my cameras for emo rockers The Hara. But first it was time for Jason Allan
Jason Allan took to the stage, in a blue boiler suit, bleached blonde hair and heavy black eyeliner, and from the very first minute the energy he was giving off was contagious and the now full Arts Club crowd were rocking.
I’m not sure what to make of Jason Allan, to be honest, it wasn’t my cup of tea, he does have an amazing voice and he was very comfortable and commanding on the stage, but as I said earlier it didn’t do it for me my favourite song of the night was a cover of “Seventeen Going Under” originally by Sam Fender. But with that said the crowd seemed to be having the time of their lives,
Next up were The Hara, from Manchester, and the band consists of Josh Taylor (singer frontman), Zack Breen (guitar) and Jack Kennedy (drums), and they are signed to Manchester Label, Scruff of The Neck Records. There is a buzz about this band, and they have a big reputation for putting on a great live show. Having already played some of the biggest festivals Download Festival Pilot, opening the main stage at Reading and Leeds, TRNSMT, Tramlines, Neighbourhood Weekender and Slam Dunk
The crowd were buzzing, the house music stopped, the stage lights dimmed, and Zack and Jack walked onto the stage, and began playing the rumbling opening intro to “Black Soul Ceremony” then Josh Taylor walked on, and the place went nuts,
For the next hour or so The Hara served up a rock show of the highest order, it had all the things a rock show should have, theatrics, mosh pits, stage climbing, costume change and more importantly and the only reason it works and doesn’t become a massive cliche, great songs, big sounds, great vocals, soaring melodies, big choruses and The Hara have that in spades. The Hara are the bastard son of Bring Me The Horizon and My Chemical Romance, they really are an emo kids wet dream, great show
