Viral Manchester trio THE HARA have shared the hypnotic visuals for their latest release ‘We All Wear Black’, taken from the EP of the same name, released on Friday
A juggernaut of a song which weaves strands of rock, punk and electronic music together, it’s all tied up with Josh Taylor’s quintessential Mancunian-tinged vocal, and is now accompanied by a vibrant, comic book-style music video.
Out via Manchester-based label Scruff Of The Neck, the ‘We All Wear Black’ EP is an exhilarating journey comprising of six euphoric and emotional tracks with arena-filling tendencies and earnest lyrics, the Manchester-based outfit have honed their “genre-fluid” sound to create a body of work that is in equal parts energetic as it is endearing.
Explaining the band’s mantra, frontman Josh Taylor says, “We want to show everyone that despite it all, despite what the statistics say, despite what people say or any of that social media acceptance bullsh*t, it really doesn’t matter. Thousands of people will reject you for being different but there are 10 times over that amount who will accept you and who are feeling just like you. If people can become a part of such a glorious resistance through our music, then that’s our mission.”
On Friday THE HARA began a mammoth 16-date tour across the UK, which will visit cities such as London, Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol and reach thousands of fans in the process. This summer, the band have been booked again to play Download Festival again, following on from their triumphant appearance at the pilot event in 2021, and they will also appear at The Great Escape, 2000trees, Kendal Calling, Y Not? Festival and 110 Above.
‘We All Wear Black’ features previous singles ‘Fool & The Thief’ and ‘Die In The City’, which saw praise from Gemma Bradley on BBC Radio 1, as well as their most recent track ‘Domino‘ – a song that profoundly shines a light upon the dark places one’s mind can sometimes travel to, and acts as a stark reminder that you’re not alone.
The band consisting of; Josh Taylor (frontman), Zack Breen (guitar) and Jack Kennedy (drums), have already been playlisted on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer as their “genre-fluid” sound sees them continue to break new ground sonically. This hybrid of sounds has also warranted them to be featured across airwaves and column inches, with notable acclaim from BBC Introducing, Kerrang!, Dork, Amazing Radio and Manchester Evening News. The band will also feature on Amazon Music’s ‘Rock This’ show in 2022, streamed live on Twitch and hosted by Sophie K (Kerrang!).
Last year the Manchester band appeared at festivals up and down the country, winning over new fans at the Download Festival Pilot, opening the main stage at Reading and Leeds and making noise at TRNSMT, Tramlines, Neighbourhood Weekender and Slam Dunk too.
With a mountain of milestones already under the trio’s belt, it must be noted this is a band who are only just getting started. With a myriad of exciting announcements already in the pipeline way beyond this EP, it’s time to believe the hype.
