The Lottery Winners have released the new single and video for their collaboration with pop icon Boy George, ‘Let Me Down’, taken from their upcoming album ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’ out 28th April on Modern Sky UK.

The track features a bravura performance from George, recalling moments from his solo career and Culture Club with its summery tone but emotional intensity.

The video for the song pays homage to the legacy of George’s career through equality and paving the way for a younger generation of artists. It features George and The Lottery Winners bringing the song’s bright elements to life with a neon-draped performance, as well as starring This Is England actor Will Travis.

On the video, The Lottery Winners’ frontman Thom Rylance says:

“Filming the video felt like a beautiful fever dream. I was in this strange neon world laughing and singing with Boy George. He’s probably the nicest and most interesting person I’ve ever met.”

The track ‘Let Me Down’ itself came about through a mixture of inspiration in its conception, and perspiration in badgering Boy George to appear on it:

“I was researching what it is that makes a song a classic. I’m intrigued by pop icons and the idea of classic songs, so I was listening to a lot of Boy George. I wrote ‘Let Me Down’ for George without knowing it. The song has a light and sunny ‘80s feel, with a lot of the same colours as other Boy George songs.

When the penny dropped that George should sing it, I couldn’t rest until he agreed. Which I’m sure wasn’t very fun for him.”

Around 55 tweets later according to Thom, George agreed to hear it, sending the response “ Darling, I love it!”

On ‘Let Me Down’ Boy George says:

It’s an earworm! It’s the catchiest song I’ve ever heard… after Karma Chameleon!

The track follows on from the release of the first single from the album ‘Worry’, and the Shaun Ryder collaboration ‘Money’.

‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’ also features recent touring mate Frank Turner, and Thom recently spoke to NME about how these collaborations came about.  The band also unveiled the album with an inventive nostalgia-soaked Art Attack parody.

The Lottery Winners have also announced a recent tour, as well as festival dates throughout the summer including Neighborhood Weekender in Manchester in May. Full dates and tickets are available from TheLotteryWinners.co.uk

‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’ is the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Something To Leave The House For’ which placed at No.11 in the Album Charts, and saw the band garner support across the board at Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, Radio X, Virgin, XS and Amazing Radio.

2022 saw the band take their live reputation Stateside for sold out shows across the pond as well as in the UK, along with main stage festival slots, all climaxing with a homecoming Christmas at Manchester Albert Hall, with 1,800 tickets selling out in just 10 hours. ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’ is certain to bring more people into The Lottery Winners’ welcoming embrace.
