Groningen alt-rock outfit The Vices have shared brand new single ‘Never Had To Know‘, listen here, alongside a refresher of breakout  track ‘Strange Again‘.

A soaring, ethereal number, The Vices’ latest offering takes a slight dip in tempo to showcase a more introspective version of the four-piece. Speaking about ‘Never Had To Know’, vocalist Floris van Luijtelaar explains, “I didn’t want to see that some things will never be how they were before, so I closed my eyes. I acted as if everything was ‘alright’, until this song came around and made me realise that looking away doesn’t get anything that I lost back…”

It also comes alongside a refresher for breakout track ‘Strange Again’ – a kaleidoscopic juggernaut that pushes and pulls the fundamentals of rock music in every direction. The band elaborate, “‘Strange Again’ is a song about restlessness. A common occurrence in a band where half of the members have ADHD. It’s about the constant urge to explore the unknown to ten find yourself back in a place you already know. ‘I Never wanted, yet I am back again’…This is exhausting, but it can also lead to some of the most beautiful moments.”

Both of the songs are taken from The Vices new album ‘Unknown Affairs’ due for release on Friday 17th March 2023 via Mattan Records. And they’ll be bringing their electrifying live experience to the UK when they play their own curated Vice Fest at London’s Bush Hall on Saturday 18th March.

Pulling inspiration from rock juggernauts like The Strokes and Cage The Elephant, with a bit of early Red Hot Chili Peppers thrown in for good measure, their fusion of Britpop and surf rock had propelled them outside of their Dutch hometown and  onto stages alongside the likes of YungbludNothing But Thieves and Black Honey

Back in their homeland The Vices have established a palpable buzz, from being crowned a ‘3FM Talent’ by 3FM, reaching the top spot with their debut album ‘Looking For Faces’ in the Dutch Vinyl Chart, winning the Pop Stipendium prize of €10K and being invited to be the house band on TV ‘M’ on NPO 1 – and live, the band have performed at Best Kept Secret and Sziget.
