Tigercub Share New Video for
“Show Me My Maker”
New album ‘The Perfume of Decay’ out now
Today, Brighton, UK-based rock ‘n’ roll trio Tigercub have released a video for “Show Me My Maker” from their new album The Perfume Of Decay via Loosegroove Records, the label co-founded by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, a long-time champion of the band.
The video received a first look om Matt Pinfield’s Power Hour on AXS TV and today Revolver premiered the video and said it’s “a swaggering, feedback-soaked anthem, and its fittingly gritty and blown-out visual captures Tigercub in fine form, tearing through the cut in stripped-down surroundings.”
“Show Me My Maker” is a frenetic, riff-heavy song, and the video is the perfect accompaniment to the album’s release. The single has received placement across Spotify’s New Music Friday (US, UK, France), All New Rock, Rock Rotation, New Noise, The Rock List and Apple’s New in Rock. Speaking on the track Stone Gossard says:
“Show Me My Maker speaks for itself. This song has classic guts. The opening cobra strikes of a guitar riff… it’s seriously in the running for ‘mother of all riffs’ to the nihilistic exultation of the chorus refrain. I love it. Thank you Tigercub.”
With The Perfume of Decay — Tigercub’s third record of nocturnal, hard-hitting rock, as well as their first full-length release for Loosegroove Records — frontman Jamie Hall draws the curtains shut and embraces a moody, melancholic sound that’s every bit as cinematic as Hollywood itself. It’s an album about counterpoint and opposites, stacked with songs that contrast overdriven guitars with whispered vocals, tight grooves with shoegazing swells of noise, sonic experimentation with sharp songwriting. For a band that’s always trafficked in drama and dynamics, The Perfume of Decay marks Tigercub’s strongest release to date.
In the run-up to release the band shared three new singles – the dynamically powerful “Swoon“; the hook heavy, fuzz-laden “Play My Favourite Song“; and the hard-hitting title track “The Perfume Of Decay.” The tracks have been met with widespread critical acclaim with considerable radio play across the likes of BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, Kerrang! Radio (playlist), and Radio X (playlist), as well as press coverage from Upset, DIY, Dork, Classic Rock, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, The Line Of Best Fit, Louder, and many more.
The Perfume of Decay was recorded after an international tour that took Tigercub halfway around the world in promotion of their last album As Blue Indigo. The record was met with commercial success and critical acclaim, peaking at Number 11 in the UK Independent Albums Chart, while drawing international applause as one of the most electrifying rock releases in recent memory, with Guitar.com hailing it as “shaped by a determination not to compromise, made with tenacity and pride, and finished with a caustic bite.” “This is an expansive and experimental record,” wrote Kerrang!, “not just a twisting, twisted road through Hall’s own experiences, but also a rebirth of a maverick rock ‘n’ roll poet.”
As mind-bending and immediate on stage as in the studio, Tigercub celebrated As Blue As Indigo with a suitably epic live schedule, including a sold out UK headline tour, dates alongside longtime friends Royal Blood, and an inspirational North American run with Clutch and Eyehategod. This summer saw the band celebrating its signing to Loosegroove Records with show-stealing sets at the UK’s annual Reading and Leeds Festival as well as by joining Pearl Jam for their colossal two-night stand at London’s BST Hyde Park 2022.
