TOM JENKINS
RETURNS WITH NEW VIDEO:
“PRODUCTS OF THE WESTERN WORLD”

AHEAD OF UK DATES
w/ CARDINAL BLACK, BASTILLE + MORE

Welsh singer-songwriter –  TOM JENKINS – has unveiled a new video for “Products of the Western World”, ahead of a string of UK live dates this Spring/Summer.

A hazy, languid track that swings from discordant to dreamy in a beat, “Products of the Western World” also features legendary guitarist Marc Ford of The Black Crowes on slide guitar.

Of the new track, Tom explains:

“”Products of the Western World” is like my theme tune to the end of the world or the closing credits. It’s a song of depressing, serious subject matter played out in a joyous, almost bluesy, Gospel, Ben-Folds inspired manner, that it throws you from the idea of how messed up our world really is.”

The release comes as Tom Jenkins gears up for a run of UK live dates across the coming months. With headline shows, a support run with Cardinal Black, festival appearances and a massive show with Bastille at Cardiff Castle, full listings can be found below.

Products of the Western World” is taken from Tom Jenkins’ expansive and exploratory recent studio album, out now, via Xtra Mile Recordings. ‘‘It Comes In The Morning, It Hangs In The Evening Sky’ is the singer-songwriter’s follow-up to 2019 solo debut ‘Misery In Comfort’.

Recorded in the depths of lockdown, Tom started tracking the album in a disused barn on an old laptop with just one microphone and a 2010 version of GarageBand. Realising he was completely out of his depth, he turned to lifelong friend and producer Todd Campbell and the pair began to turn the collection of songs into a full-length album at his studio in South Wales.

As he picked up momentum, Tom drafted in a range of old band mates and friends he’d met on the road over the years including Phil Campbell (Motorhead), Elijah Ford (Gary Clark Jr) and Paul Mullen (YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO, The Automatic).

Shifting up and down through the gears from full-band production to stripped-back live takes recorded with one mic in the barn, the album’s mood lifts and lowers as it cruises through twelve enchanting tracks. Featuring earlier BBC Radio Wales A-playlisted singles including feel-good indie-rock anthem “Under The Sun”, Britpop-country fusion “Be There For You” and rustic, rural-inspired “Back Roads”; the record also delves deeper into the leftfield, such as on the blistering psych-rock cut “Magic Mushroom Island” or the beautiful acoustic ballad “If I Can’t Love You”

Citing influences for the album in classic artists like Jeff BuckleyBruce Springsteen and Silverchair, to more modern indie-folk frontrunners like Phoebe BridgersBig Thief and Band Of Horses; the album was picked as Huw Stephens’ ‘Artist of the Week’ and received praise from tastemaker titles such as Aesthetica Magazine who enthused “Jenkins has managed to find a way of weaving his  individual  experiences  and  voice  into  a  tapestry  of  traditionally crafted songs that ring with true authenticity.”

Following a stint of dates with label-mates Skinny Lister last Winter and a show with Frank Turner at the beginning of this year, Tom Jenkins will be hitting the road again in 2023 as he continues to tour ‘It Comes In The Morning, It Hangs In The Evening Sky’ around the UK.

Tom will be playing a run of support shows with Cardinal Black, a major slot alongside Bastille, two headline shows in Trowbridge and Cardiff this April and more.  Full dates and details are as follows:
