Tom Walker makes an impressive return with the upbeat and addictive ‘Serotonin’ – the first taste of new music from his hotly anticipated forthcoming second album.
His distinctive voice is gloriously showcased on this hook laden, sonically expansive track. ‘Serotonin’ was written by Tom, alongside Gez O’Connell, who penned Dua Lipa’s ‘Hotter Than Hell’, and The Elements (AJ Tracey, Tion Wayne, Headie One) and produced by Mike Spencer (Rudimental), as well as The Elements.
The video, shot by Samuel Douek (Sigala, Craig David) in Mexico City, documents the difficult relationship between father and daughter. Layered with stunning colour and texture throughout, the video comes to an epic climax with breathtaking performance shots from Tom in a hot air balloon.
Tom says; “Before the pandemic I spent four years chasing a serotonin hit, and that last gig that made me feel on top of the world. The last epic night out. It’s not sustainable though – you can’t wake up happy every day and you can’t have the sun without the rain. You have to find joy in the little things and learn to appreciate them day to day.”
The new track arrives off the back of a rapturous 8-date, intimate, sold out UK tour playing new music alongside some of his biggest tracks including ‘Leave A Light On’ And ‘Just You And I’. The tour ended on a triumphant note at London’s Omeara – a venue he first played in May 2017 as a rising new artist.
Tom delivered the brilliant ‘Something Beautiful’ last October, featuring rapper Masked Wolf. That then marked the start of a run of TV & radio appearances at the end of last year, including a truly special performance with The Duchess Of Cambridge from Westminster Abbey where she joined Tom on piano for a memorable version of his emotional Christmas track ‘For Those Who Can’t Be Here’..
Tom, whose global streams have passed three billion and has sold over two million albums worldwide, was the biggest selling UK signed artist of 2019 and is now working on the follow up to his No.1 platinum debut ‘What A Time To Be Alive’. Expect the new album later this year.
*Serotonin is a chemical produced naturally in your brain that affects the way you feel, for example making you feel happier, calmer, or less hungry.
