“LOS ANGELES”
OUT 3RD NOVEMBER
‘Los Angeles’ is the upcoming collaboration between Lol Tolhurst, Budgie, and Jacknife Lee and it is poised to be the standout musical achievement of the year. Scheduled for release on November 3rd via Play It Again Sam, this project brings together an extraordinary blend of talents.
At its core, this trio consists of Lol Tolhurst, a founding member of The Cure, and Budgie, renowned as the drummer for Siouxsie & The Banshees. Their connection dates back to 1979, when The Cure toured with The Banshees, nurturing a desire to collaborate that has now materialized. In the vibrant backdrop of Los Angeles, they found their inspiration, and the city’s essence permeates every facet of the upcoming album.
The music presented is a striking fusion of stark industrial punk and pop, with an aura that feels like it could have been crafted in a mysterious Berlin studio. A myriad of notable guest artists, including James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Mark Bowen (IDLES), Arrow De Wilde (Starcrawler), Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), and The Edge (U2), among others, have lent their creative touch to this project.
The album’s sonic landscape is characterized by percussive beats and an intensity that is both captivating and moody, making it an ideal soundtrack for a David Lynch movie. Over the course of four years, this trio has meticulously crafted a 13-track long-player that stretches to 55 minutes. The music is an intricate interplay of electronic rhythms, accompanied by an array of synths, guitars, strings, and brass instruments, all masterfully produced by the musical genius, Jacknife Lee.
This Lol Tolhurst x Budgie x Jacknife Lee collaboration promises a sonic journey that marries diverse musical elements into a tapestry of modern sound. Its enigmatic and pulsating nature, coupled with its high-profile guest appearances and meticulous production, sets it on a path to becoming one of the most exceptional musical releases of the year.”
