CIRCA WAVESRELEASE SURPRISE NEW EP HELL ON EARTH

AHEAD OF HUGE SHOWS AT READING & LEEDS NEXT WEEK

Circa Waves have released surprise new EP Hell On Earth,

Fresh after returning with a surprise new single on Wednesday, the band have now dropped their first full release since 2020, featuring four totally new tracks.

Hell On Earth is the start of a new era from Circa Waves, who have risen up the indie ranks over the last eight years to become one of Britain’s most influential and adored guitar bands. Constantly developing their sound, their fresh and resonant take on indie foundations has taken them to huge festival headline slots across their illustrious career.

From the generation defining debut Young Chasers which featured the anthems ‘T Shirt Weather’ and ‘Fossils’ through two immense follow ups in Different Creatures and What’s It Like Over There?, Circa Waves have been on what feels like a constant upward trajectory since their emergence.

Their critically lauded fourth album Sad Happy released in 2019 saw the band’s biggest chart success to date, claiming #4 in the Official Album Charts and cementing the band’s influence in the UK alternative scene.

Now – after the longest break of their career – the four piece are back with new EP Hell on Earth, out today via Lower Third. under exclusive license to [PIAS].

Showcasing elements from across their career but also breaking new ground, Hell On Earth is a frenetic, addictive return from the band – a whirlwind collection of tracks that encapsulates what makes them so vital.

Talking through the EP, frontman Kieran Shudall said:“‘Hell on Earth’ is about the world moving so fast around you you’re struggling to keep up. Record stores closing, politicians lying more than ever, social anxiety at its highest level and that general feeling some days that everything is going wrong.”

He continues: “‘Aisles of Strange’ picks up where ‘Hell On Earth’ left off. Continuing on these strange times we live in. Mostly written after seeing people fight in the aisles of Tesco for bog roll.”

Talking about the 80’s-esque ‘Honeymoon Rain’, Shudall said: “There’s not many pop songs that include hoovering so I thought it might be funny to write one.”

And on ‘Sidetracked’: ‘”Sidetracked’ is my meandering mind whilst driving. If you listen whilst driving you can see almost everything I’m chatting about. It also sounds great driving down the M62”
