US gold-certified alternative pop phenomenons COIN have today released their new album ‘Uncanny Valley’ via 10K Projects / Virgin Music. The band will perform their first UK headline show since 2018 at OMEARA, London on April 1st, before joining 5 Seconds of Summer’s arena tour. BUY/STREAM HERE

“We’re just creating what resonates with us, and we couldn’t be more excited to put our truest artistic expression out into the world” says vocalist/keyboardist Chase Lawrence about the album release. Co-produced by COIN and Julian Bunetta (Maroon 5, One Direction, Harry Styles) Uncanny Valley is an album born from intense fascination with the infinite possibilities and dangers of Artificial Intelligence, and the ever-blurring boundary between humanity and technology. In the spirit of an emotion-driven sci-fi film, the Nashville-based indie-pop trio use that fascination as a lens for exploring a constellation of human concerns (disconnection, infatuation, existential crisis), instilling each song with equal parts raw sensitivity and radiant imagination.

“The idea was to take the elements of classic rock—the organic instrumentation and energy of drums and guitar and bass—then put all that through a very hi-fi and modern filter,” adds Lawrence. “We wanted to make people feel like they’ve opened a door to the future, and heard a combination of sounds they weren’t supposed to hear yet.”

Featuring previously released singles ‘I Think I Met You In A Dream’, ‘Cutie’ and ‘Chapstick’, the project has already amassed over 20 million streams, garnered praise across the board and was hailed by Elton John on his Rocket Hour Radio Show (“I can promise you’ll be hearing more!”) and Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 (‘One of my favourite things we’re playing here… SO SICK”). It also received support from Billboard, DORK, Daily Star and  was added to The Independent’s ‘Now Hear This’ playlist.

Bringing the themes of the album to life, the band performed “Chapstick” on Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week and were joined by artificial intelligence robotic musician, Shimon, from Georgia Tech’s Center for Music Technology.

COIN are vocalist/keyboardist Chase Lawrence, guitarist Joe Memmel and drummer Ryan Winnen. Ending 2021 with a sold-out 26-city North American tour, the band will join 5 Seconds of Summer’s arena tour in the UK from April 3, before hitting the road for a slew of festival performances including Lollapalooza, Life Is Beautiful, Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Forecastle and Shaky Knees, with more to be announced. 2022 is set to be a landmark year for the Nashville-based indie-pop trio.
