Formerly known as Kwassa, Good Scott is the new project of Scott Verrill, with the acclaimed artist/producer using this moniker to explore exciting new angles within his remarkable musical talents. Previously a writer and producer for huge talent, this project is all about stepping out of the shadows and bringing himself to the fore.
Unafraid to push the boundaries of alternative-pop, Verrill brings a commendably wide range of influences into play to craft something entirely unique yet peppered with elements of warm familiarity, like catching up with an old friend.
Earlier this spring Good Scott released ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, a bubbly statement of intent that set the tone for the year to come, a gorgeously layered slice of perfect breezy alt-pop that saw acclaim at both radio and press.
Now in the midst of the long hot season, today sees him return with ‘Yes Man’, another piece of the puzzle. A certified summer sensation, ‘Yes Man’ is an infectious, relatable cut that puts bright, bombastic instrumentals against self-referential lyrics. A definitive taste of Good Scott, it effortlessly showcases why he’s one of the capital’s most exciting talents at the moment.
Speaking about ‘Yes Man’, Good Scott said: “As a self-confessed people pleaser, ‘yes man’ is a song about pretty much that. Luke and I (co-writer) often get together and offload about the pressures of the music industry and just being overwhelmed with all the pressures that come from being 20 something – so this was a chance for us to squeeze them all into a song. It’s also the song that we made directly after ‘sorry not sorry’ so naturally it just felt right musically. I want people to be able to take it with a pinch of salt and laugh at the lyrics cos they have felt the same way.’’
‘Yes Man’ is the latest single to be taken from a forthcoming wider project from Good Scott, more information will be revealed in due course.
