UNVEIL SLICK AND SACCHARINE NEW SINGLE ‘SWEETHEART
THE SOUTH LONDON-BASED TRIO ALSO ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM ‘SAME OLD PARADISE’ – RELEASED ON 31ST JANUARY 2023
Honey Moon have unveiled their slick and saccharine new single ‘Sweetheart’
The South London-based trio have served up another slice of self-confessed melanchollipop which nourishes the soul with their latest track. An ode to nostalgia and childhood traits, it confronts that precocious streak that can sometimes rear its ugly head in everyday adult life, disguised behind upbeat, honeyglazed melodies and a glistening brass section.
Elaborating on the track, vocalist and guitarist Jack Slater Chandler explains, “It’s about reverting to our child-like self and the impact that has on the people around us. Whilst our inner-child is a precious thing, when mean spirited and self-centered thoughts take over, we often cast aside the lessons we’ve learnt as we’ve grown and punish the people who care for us the most. The tantrums never stop, they just take a different form.”
‘Sweetheart’ comes alongside the announcement of Honey Moon’s biggest career milestone to date, their debut album – the band have revealed that ‘Same Old Paradise’ will be released on 31st January 2023. Spanning across eleven tracks, the album was recorded with Alex Greaves (Working Men’s Club, Pulled Apart By Horses, BDRMM) at The Nave Studios in Leeds.
Following on from previous singles ‘Stop And Listen’, ‘VIP’ and ‘The Call’, the band have won scores of praise from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, Dork, Wonderland, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing and Apple Music 1, as well as support from pop juggernaut Sir Elton John, Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson and Gideon Coe. They’ve graced the cover of Spotify’s Hot New Bands playlist and have made triumphant appearances at Glastonbury, Truck Festival and Sŵn Festival.
Live, the jangle pop crooners are well versed in putting on an impressive show with their most recent London headline show at The Lexington heralded as a triumphant sell out. Recently they’ve joined fellow 60s sound purveyors FUR on their UK tour and have headed up and down the country earlier this year completing their own run of headline dates, wowing fans from the dizzying heights of the north to the glistening scenery of the south coast.
Over the past two years Honey Moon’s streaming figures (which sit comfortably in the millions) have continued to increase at a rapid rate, as they’ve amplified the appetite for more new music and live appearances. In turn, the band have spent that time crafting a considered collection of music that now forms their long-awaited debut album.
‘Sweetheart’ is available to stream now. Honey Moon’s debut album ‘Same Old Paradise’ will be released on 31st January 2023.
