OUT TODAY VIA KIND VIOLENCE RECORDS
IST IST have released their immersive new album ‘The Art Of Lying’, out today via Kind Violence Records.
Spanning across 10 engulfing songs, it’s the Manchester-based quartet’s most enchanting body of work to date. The record lands today via the band’s own label Kind Violence Records and serviced by Scruff Of The Neck.
The record features previous single ‘Extreme Greed’, a behemoth compared to their usually more industrial and post-punk sound, it evidences a more expansive, stadium rock feel with overarching synths pulling you firmly into the track alongside elevating percussion, which runs through the entirety of the record.
IST IST introduced the album earlier this year with lead single ‘It Stops Where It Starts’. An urgent progression from the monochromatic soundscapes with which the found cult fame, it encapsulates stark, dark and brooding tones across it’s 3 minutes and 8 seconds. Frontman Adam Houghton’s distinct baritone is the perfect accompaniment to the driving beats and dystopian lyrical themes.
The quartet’s first album ‘Architecture’, was released in May 2020 and saw great success as a genuine independent release, reaching #3 in the Independent Album Chart and #4 in the Vinyl Album Chart. Now back with a swift follow up, ‘The Art Of Lying’ was written in April and May of last year and recorded in October. Whilst it’s not a ‘lockdown record’ there is a cohesive thread that ties the LP together, capturing a certain energy of living in the present that can be unlocked when you press play on the full product.
In support of the new album, Ist Ist will be embarking on a 10 date tour of the UK which starts tonight in Blackpool and runs through until the 11th December, visiting London, Bristol, Glasgow and Manchester along the way.
