WORDS AND IMAGES BY DESH KAPUR
Lewis Capaldi was in Liverpool M&S Bank Arena for the next date on his huge world tour, and I was there to check it out.
So, with another number-one single to add to his already massive list of accolades and a new album on the way, the wise-cracking Scot has plenty to smile about and as he walked onto the stage you could see the smile from the cheap sits.
Even though Lewis Capaldi comes over as a bit of a comedian to the point it seems he doesn’t take much seriously when it comes to writing stadium-sized big heart-wrenching ballads, he is nothing but serious. His songs are filled with such raw emotion, and he is magnetic as his lips tremble with his beautiful vibrato as he sings songs of heartbreak and loss.
He rolls out all the songs the massive sold-out arena crowd are here for, “Pointless” “Before You Go” “Bruises” and his breakthrough hit, “Someone You Loved” whilst also giving live debuts to “Heavenly Kind Of State Of Mind” “Wish You The Best” “Leave Me Slowly” and “How I’m feeling Now” people sing people dance and I’m telling you I saw a tear or two.
As the night finished and I wandered back to my car, there were a few things obvious to me, 1 = Lewis Capaldi has a voice that is outstanding 2 = He knows how to write stadium-sized bangers 3 = If his music career ever fails, he will make plenty of money as a stand-up comedian, brilliant night from a very talented singer-songwriter
