MARIANNA WINTER IS READY TO CATCH YOU UNDER HER SPELL ON CAPTIVATING NEW TRACK ‘VOODOO’

AS PART OF A NEW PROJECT, EXPECTED EARLY 2022

Emerging soul singer Marianna Winter is ready to catch you under her spell on captivating new track ‘Voodoo’ – listen.

Staying true to her hybrid style, Marianna is back with a new spellbinding song which effortlessly blends rich guitars with shimmering beats as she depicts a love scenario likened to the overwhelming power black magic can hold over a person.

Speaking about the song, Marianna says, “‘Voodoo’ is about that black magic that keeps you coming back when you know you shouldn’t. With dark, chorus-heavy guitars, glittery beats, and crisp vocals, this production meshes sweet with bitterness into a big gumbo of textures, thus welcoming every dark desire that you didn’t even know you had with open arms. Describing a feeling of powerlessness that can only be caused by a magic spell.”

It follows on from previous single ‘Over You‘, a glorious melting pot of warm synths paired with the singer’s smooth vocals, and alongside this track, makes up part of a new project from the singer expected in early 2022.

Marianna Winter is one of the few female artists currently pioneering the lo-fi underground scene in the Faroe Islands. Born and partly raised between Tórshavn and California, she challenges her homeland’s musical and cultural status quo, adding an LA heat to the quintessential nordic sound, thus offering a unique perspective into both cultures.

Recurring themes of love, and subsequent break-ups, embed themselves into Marianna’s lyrical content as her Chet Baker-esque vocals pair themselves with the sonic stylings of Jai Paul. Marrying these elements together the singer offers, “I’m amazed at how, surrounded by literally billions of people, we still manage to feel lonely. But I’ve recently realised many of the things that make us feel isolated are the same things that tie us together: love, breakups, heartache, grief….It’s whether we share these things with each other that makes the difference, so that’s what I want to write about.”
