REVIEW BY LLOYD WAKELING
RELEASED DECEMBER 10TH 2021
The 20th anniversary re-release of Starsailor’s album, ‘Love Is Here’ brings it to the attention of a whole new legion of would be fans, and after listening to the tracks with a fresh ear and sense of wonder, it easily explains why even though the band weren’t huge in the popularity contest that always seems to be an unwelcome measure of worth, this group of musicians have a place in the music of that era that transcends the hype and puts them rightfully amongst the greats of that post Brit-pop time in the early 2000s.
It is easy to forget that this was the bands first album and listening to the tracks over and again it is apparent that the maturity and brilliance of the songwriting was apparent from the very beginning. Storytelling at its finest garnished with the beautiful notes of a subtle master, each track completely deserves its place on an album spared of any duds.
Embellished now with some extra pieces of art, this new stroke old friend deserves another listen, another moment and definitely another tour that will undoubtedly bring the band new fans who will want to hear for themselves what all the fuss was about.
