FUR – “When You Walk Away”
Released November 5th via 777 Records
Brighton quartet Fur release their debut album ‘When you walk away’ since signing to Boy Pablos record label 777 the band have built themselves a significant fanbase throughout the UK, not to mention previously selling out shows in Asia.
FUR positively viewed the time that was served to them when the world stood still as an opportunity to grasp freedom and record without the time constraints and allow them ‘to be a band at their own pace’
Recorded at Echo Zoo studios that has welcomed artists such as Michael Kiwanuka, The magic Numbers..the band remained working with key collaborators that were involved in their first album, the band recognise this as stepping back in order to propel yourself forward. Members Murray, Josh, Tav and Flynn bring a dose of calmness and sway to our fast paced life’s.
The album gives us a retro feel with soft melodic guitars and sing along chorus style to songs such as ‘Anybody Else But Me.’ Nostalgic themes in ‘To Be Next To Her’ is a pure love song that takes you back to easier and simpler times, not to far from visons of scooters, parkers and stolen kisses.
“The Fine Line Of A Quiet Life” is a perfect mix of today’s style indie with an opening of guitar strumming that has the present feel of today but a whisper of nostalgia to it The band bring a uniqness of style but with a familiar feel and “No Good For You” immediately made me think of Gerry Rafferty’s guitar strumming from the 70s hit by Stealers wheel. Whilst the guitars and most definitely the vocal range in ‘Holding Up The Sun’ has a more slow vibe 90s oasis feel to it.
Along with the soft tone of Murrays vocal the whole album has a warm content happy feel to it, almost like a comfort blanket that takes you away from the issues of today’s society and cocoons you in its warmth

My life is a soundtrack, i track my life through music, photography is my passion, my escape, my expression. Without both i have pieces missing, thankfully i’m blessed and get to combine both.
Born in Manchester, lived in Australia for 22 years where i was heavily involved in the Australian Music Industry, firstly in bands (Singer) and then managing bands (all original), I moved back to the UK, Wales specifically 10 years ago and married my childhood sweetheart and life is good.
