REVIEW OF THE NEW LORD HURON ALBUM ” LONG LOST”

Now, we are all pretty familiar with most American genres in music,  jazz, blues, folk and country to name a few, but Indie/folk is a relatively left field style with arguably The Fleet Foxes being the best known or at least in my limited knowledge of the genre.

Lord Huron have been around a while apparently and ‘Long lost’ is their latest offering, but having not heard their previous work, I listened with virgin ears and no expectations.

It is a revelation! American to its core, it exudes the style that beats in jazz, the passion and melancholy of the blues and the orchestra of sixties pop. Beautifully put together with towering guitars and vocals that literally echo around the head, the tracks tell their stories and invite you into their world with handshakes, hugs and a big welcome smack on the back that always stings but is always loving.

This is an album that talks to me in so many ways, conversations that are heartfelt play their way into the consciousness until humming and nodding become second nature. I loved listening to this album for so many reasons and it won’t be long before I get hold of their back catalogue to best understand the journey that has brought Lord Huron to this place of beauty and humble grace.

MORE ABOUT LORD HURON

Lord Huron is an American indie rock band based in Los Angeles. The band was founded by guitarist and lead singer Ben Schneider and is composed of Mark Barry (drums, percussion), Miguel Briseño (bass, keyboard, theremin), and Tom Renaud (guitar). Following some solo and self-produced EPs, the group’s debut album Lonesome Dreams was released in 2012 and their fourth and most recent album Long Lost was released in May 2021.

Lord Huron combines western, folk rock, rock and roll, pop melodies, and the surf rock genres with soundtrack and new age influences to produce a novel sound described by The Wall Street Journal as having “a decidedly cinematic flair, heavy on mood and evocative imagery. Lord Huron brings to mind the high-lonesome sound of antecedents like the Band, Neil Young, My Morning Jacket and Fleet Foxes.”
