ASHNIKKO SHARES NEW SINGLE “WEEDKILLER”
DEBUT ALBUM WEEDKILLER OUT 2nd JUNE
Pop disruptor Ashnikko (she/they) shares third offering from her highly anticipated debut album WEEDKILLER out 2nd June. WEEDKILLER is a collection of irresistible songs that perfect the bold, genre-blending sound that has defined Ashnikko’s work to date.
The new single and title track sees Ashnikko burst onto the pop hook like an artillery barrage as she showcases the lore of the debut album. WEEDKILLER sees Ashnikko delve deeper into fantasy to confront ecological collapse, tech warfare within the atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic action film. Speaking on the track Ashnikko says, “this is the song that spawned the whole album. its the climax of the album, the epic fight scene in the wasteland. swords drawn, roots deep into the ground, i have come here to photosynthesize and eliminate the weedkillers. it is a violent fantastical storytelling set in my realm.”
Later this year will see Ashnikko take WEEDKILLER on the road as she embarks on her biggest tour to date, including recently completed dates in Japan, Australia and New Zealand which marked the end of the DEMIDEVIL era. After a run of festivals this summer The WEEDKILLER tour will hit the US, Europe and UK including headline shows at London’s Alexandra Palace, Brooklyn Mirage in NYC and Élysée Montmartre in Paris. Ashnikko will Coachella Festival and Radio 1 Big Weekend amongst other festivals this summer. Their live performances are notoriously riotous – with Ashnikko writhing, jumping and thrashing around the stage whilst the crowd follow suit – and in previous years they’ve packed out tents and stages across the world.
